El Portillo...

is becoming more and more the ‘gold coast’ of Las Terrenas. The scenic drive from downtown along the endless beach, bars, restaurants, boutique hotels and surfshops goes out to Punta Popy. When it comes to kiting this is the place, the perfect winds attractlots of kiters…

Upscale resorts and private communities you’ll find here like Balcones del Atlantico, a RockResort community directly at the beach, El Portillo Spa & BeachClub, Gran Bahia El Portillo beachfront hotel, Esperanza Residencia, Oceanbreeze and Portillo Residence. And more projects are on the way.

Stunning white beaches with soul-warming sun, crystal-clear waters, and fragrant sea air can be found all over El Portillo so it’s not a surprise that contemporary and glamorous white villas make El Portillo an upscale territory.

Like Loma Esperanza or Esperanza Residencia which is is a large upscale private-residence comunity with private beach, heli platform and top-notch tennis courts. This 30 ha private community has large green spaces. A small boutique hotel with spa/wellness/fitness facilities belongs to the new plans.

Oceanbreeze is located on the hillside, a couple of minutes from the beach, with large and modern villas enjoying ocean views down to Las Terrenas and up to Playa Moron and the national parc Cabo Cabron.

Portillo Residence is a gated community on the beach, near the small airport, and here you’ll find nice colonial and plantation style homes, some beautyfully restored, like Casa del Rio or the charming villa Chad. The Portillo Residence belongs to the oldest in and around Las Terrenas.

El Portillo even has a small ‘private airport’ for smaller planes or private jets. It’s one of theprime amenities here.

And in the evening one can dine in the relaxed beach club at Balcones del Atlantico, Porto, where chef Bruno Toso will make you a perfect dinner which after he meets the local fishermen each morning. Even president Leonel and Danilo (the new one) visited Porto last year to relax and enjoy the great food and surroundings.

It looks that El Portillo is the place to be in Las Terrenas.
